    Belle Plaine’s storm sewer project was in full swing.  A huge ditch, which at its lowest depth reached 13 feet, was necessary to hold Belle Plaine’s new storm sewer that followed Highway 25.

    The new grain crop was coming to market. Early yields were winter wheat at 25 – 30 bushels and spring wheat at 9 – 15, but oats were very poor, with some farmers not bothering to cut their oats.
