BIRTHS

Gary and Melissa (Thuening) Bandel of Shakopee would like to announce the birth of their daughter, Charlotte Rose, who was born on February 22, 2010 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. Charlotte weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces and was 17 inches long. Grandparents are Gary and Carolyn Bandel of Belle Plaine and Michael and Patte Thuening of Shakopee.

Robert and Laura (Rickert) Bruner of Belle Plaine are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter, Danica Jo Bruner, who was born March 2, 2010 at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague. Danica weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce and was 18-3/4 inches long. She is welcomed home by Michael, 2. Grandparents are Yvonne Bruner of Montevideo and Joanne Rickert and Richard Rickert of Traer, Iowa. Great-grandmother is Violet Underwood of Montevideo.

COLLEGE GRADS

Jason Bittner, Lucas Boom, Stephanie Brown and Rebecca Ruud, all of Belle Plaine were named to the Fall 2009 Dean's List at Normandale Community College. To be eligible, the students must be enrolled in at least 9 credits and achieve a grade point average of at least 3.5.

OBITUARIES

Willmar "Butch" C. Schuette

Willmar "Butch" Charles Schuette, 61, of rural Belle Plaine passed away on March 3, 2010.
A service of thanksgiving for his life was held on March 7, 2010 at Zion United Church of Christ in Le Sueur. Pastor Ken Ribe officiated.
Willmar was born on April 8, 1948 to Willmar and Janet (Schoenke) Schuette. He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1966 after competing in many choir contests and playing trombone in the school's band. He was also active as a football player and wrestler.
After attending the Minneapolis Business College and working many jobs during his younger years, he enlisted in the United States Army serving in Germany,
He met Jane Simcox Schuette at a wedding dance and opened her root beer can. They were together ever since and married on June 16, 1972. Their daughter, Sarah Lynn Schuette was born December 23, 1976.
The family traveled to many states together, enjoyed raising orphan lambs every spring, and most recently opened Henderson Antiques and Uniques.
Butch held many positions including manager at the Blakeley Cooperative Elevator, Blakeley Township Clerk, Manager of the German Mutual Insurance Company, and owner of the Schuette Shoppe furniture restoration business that he loved so dearly.
He was a member of the Le Sueur River City Players community theatre for 10 years, and President of the Schegel Settlement Cemetery for over 30 years. He served his church on the Church Council, Men's Fellowship, Sunday School teacher, and in many other committees. He shared his beautiful voice by singing tenor with the Church Choir for 30 years and at many weddings and funerals.
He especially enjoyed fishing, cooking, four wheeling, classic cars, ice cream cones and being a good friend to everyone he met.
He is survived by his wife, Jane; daughter, Sarah; siblings, Nella (Gary) Schmidt, Jon (Peggy) Schuette; step-siblings, Dale (Susie) Stender and LaJune Zellmann; many extended family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; brother, Craig; sister, Betty Ann; two unborn children; and sister-in-law, Lynn Moody.
Pallbearers were Jim Hamilton, Gerry Bratsch, Bob Kahle, Robert Moody, Larry Martin, Ivan Lehnert, Richard Schumann and John Dhaene.

Dottie M. Conqueror

Dottie May Conqueror, 80, of Belle Plaine, formerly of Louisiana, passed away at her home on Saturday, March 6, 2010.
A memorial service will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Rev. Charles Holladay will officiate the service. Interment will take place at a later date in Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport, LA.
Dottie was born in Arcadia, LA, to Charles and Elvie (Malone) Terry on July 4, 1929. She attended school in Athens, LA. Dottie helped on the family farm picking cotton. She was always close with her parents and was very much a daddy’s girl. She enjoyed playing guitar and loved to sing.
During the latter years of her life, Dottie resided with and was cared for by her daughter, Wanda L. Mooney and family; son-in-law, Lynn Mooney; granddaughter, Loraine Slama; grandson-in-law, Peter Slama; great-grandsons, Brandon and Matthew Slama; and great-granddaughters, Miranda Drake and Brandy Spadafore.
Dottie is survived by her sister, Mildred Doggett of Houston, TX; children, Elizabeth Griffis of Pueblo, CO, Wanda Mooney of Belle Plaine, Charles Goode of Cotton Valley, LA, Billy Goode of Pueblo, CO, Linda Bonner of Bossier City, LA, Dorothy McDonald of Shreveport, LA; 18 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; 29 other great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Charles Conqueror.
